Dirofilaria immitis (pathology) - hypothesis of the DEC reaction in dogs infected with Dirofilaria immitis. It is important to consider adverse reactions to DEC when using this drug in clinical veterinary practice. The prevelence and severity of reaction vary geographically and the exact mechanism remains a mystery. The clinical reaction is now well described and adequate though non specific therapy available.
